The re-build at Mega Maybe Blind to keep the cattle out of the mineral appears to be working as they came to see, walked all around stopping and staring at the mineral but were unable to get in.

Cow Moose & Calf inspected the blind.

Sow & her 3 cubs played havoc with the blind, just lucky they did not damage it.

Muley Doe and Buck jumped the fence and cattle guard so deer have good access with no cattle.

Bobcat, this was the first Bobcat captured on video, have gotten 3 cougars, 1 wolf and 1 lynx on trail cam video before.

The game cameras today are just amazing. That momma moose is giving her kid a
lesson in what a blind looks like..

That bobcat hasn't been doing too well...awful skinny for this time of year, but
no doubt it's be finding something to munch on soon enough.

Is the blind a set up for archery season?

It is Dizzy .... Season here opens on Sept. 1st and the long range forecast is for good weather. With the cattle not being able to get in
the mineral will last and the deer will continue to be here. Set up the blind 1st week of July and now it is simply a part of the landscape.
I use crossbow bolts with lighted nocks ( like a tracer bright green nocks) and with all the cameras and angles if I am fortunate to be
able to fling an arrow I'm hoping to capture the action on film...
Would be nice to put some venison in the freezer as here the price of beef is so very high.....

I know a few guys who like those tracer nocks.never tried 'em myself.

Hey Dizzy, On March 1st, 2023 I had right shoulder replacement surgery and it took quite a while for me to recover, get my strength back and also get back
my full range of motion. During that time I sold my compound bows & accessories and purchased a Ten Point Havoc RS440 crossbow. For me this turned
out to be the best choice as now it is so much easier to handle and load and much more enjoyable .....

Makes sense, especially with that bad shoulder.

I'm an old-school trad guy with two bad rotator cuffs..not bad enough for surgery,
but bad enough that I can't draw my 50# longbow any longer. I'm planning to trade
it for something in the 42-45# class. That 5 lb. makes a big difference on the shoulders,
but I should still be able to shoot my 50 lb. spine cedar shafts.

I don't really hunt any longer, but if I had a cedar shaft and obsidian/chert broadhead I
would try to take a deer humanely with it. For that, I would need a broadside or quartering
away shot a 20 yds. and under, and I'd want to do it with a selfbow I made myself. I have
one, but it's got a 60# draw weight. I could re-tiller it and remove enough belly wood to
bring it down to 45#(ish), but the bow was signed by Glenn St. Charles and that would get
sanded off...not gonna do that. Glenn St. Charles was a friend and contemporary of Fred
Bear, and they often hunted together.

I think Dizzy that you would kick yourself in the butt if you ever changed your self made bow. Items like this are always
better left alone with all the original patina and condition and especially signed by Glenn St. Charles.
Glenn was the main driving force for bow hunting recognition starting in the 1950's and in the early 1960's a new club
was formed and today we know it as the "Pope and Young" for bow hunting records.

Cariboo5 where do you live ? Many years ago I bought a new compound bow when they first came out off of a guy that used to hunt with Fred Bear . His name was Bill Goff (SP) . While in Bills shop I got to meet Fred in there once . Bill used to build spiral stair cases in Battle Creek Michigan.

I think Dizzy that you would kick yourself in the butt if you ever changed your self made bow. Items like this are always
better left alone with all the original patina and condition and especially signed by Glenn St. Charles.

was formed and today we know it as the "Pope and Young" for bow hunting records.

Glenn and Margaret owned Northwest Archery which was in Normandy Park, Wa. They also had the
Pope and Young museum in the same building, as well as a massive collection of Fred Bear's bows.

I spent several hours, many times, looking at the museum and bow collection and shooting the breeze
with Glenn and his family. Absolutely awesome people, all. Glenn always had a story to tell about one of
his many hunting trips, and hanging out with half a dozen other bowhunters listening to it was a great
way to spend a cold winters afternoon.

The bow I have was built in a bow building class that Glenn and Jay put on a couple times a year. It
is Pacific Yew with a hickory lamination on the back. The bow carries both Glenn and Jay's signatures.

Glenn, Margaret and the store are all gone now. I believe Jay is still building Yew bows, and Suzanne is
still building arrows as far as I know.

I sure do miss those days.
