Well, now that I am almost completely recovered from my poison oak from this dig, I am going to put up a few pics from that day last week...I went out and hit this old park that happens to have a wooded area with a spillway behind it...I had noticed that one of the hills next to the spillway all of the broken bottle pieces and such and decided to dig around....found a total of about 17 or so bottles (including my first complete flask bottle) but will post those pics perhaps tomorrow...Today I wanted to show some of the extra bits from the dig...Of course, I found some cool broken bottle tops, but also a great bottle stopper that was in perfect condition, and a great aqua color...with all the rain we have been getting, I noticed that if I went down to the spillway, just on the outer edges where the water meets the banks, that the moss and scruffy grass kinda acts like the riffles in a gold pan, and that certain spots here and there after the water has gone down, that coins and other heavier type objects are left behind...I found this brass Texas pin, or button, well worn from the water, but Texas can still be read at the right angle...I also found many coins this way, including this '63 rosie! I didn't realize it was silver until I got home and took a look at it....all in all I probably found 80cents or more in nickles, dimes, pennies and quarters....While back on the bank I was digging from unerneath an overhang, when the Merc dropped out! The edge of the coin caught my eye, and apparently the edge of my three prong garden rake caught her face! Oh well, I was stoked to see a '28 merc looking back at me and the fact that I found TWO silver in one day, a first for me! Other finds included two odd "dolls".....one looks to be porcelain, and the other like a bisque china, any help on these? Date? Age? Also found two glass beads from a necklace, or rosary, a white glass button, a very corroded, but cool cap gun, and a very thick door plate....like I said, I found some pretty cool and interesting bottles (for me anyway) and will post those later...any help on the dolls is greatly appreciated! As always, thanks for stopping by and taking a look!
