Brass Brooch. Edit: 14k Gold Brooch

I was happy with the find but boy was it a teaser. It had the same signal as a gold ring last week. The brass shined like gold in the hole too. An Art Nouveau Maiden Brooch dating to 1890-1910.

Well, I might be mistaken on the Brass Part. I was just taking pictures to upload here and when I zoomed in on the catch: it’s marked 14k! (My eyesight has declined a bit) Now it all makes sense! First 2 golds were 6 days apart after 2 years of nothing. True feast or famine. I believe the band once held diamonds. I may get it restored.

An amazing find! When seeing where it was found, I have to ask myself....what series of
events occurred in order for that to be lost, and at that spot in the woods?

I’ll never know but my best finds are in the most random places (away from historically trafficked areas) which makes sense for someone not seeing it or not being able to find it. I have reason to believe that when it was dropped the land was cleared though. Forests only need a couple decades to fill out.

I really appreciate the comment, that means a lot coming from such a member. I can’t believe it, if you were to have seen the neighborhood that this was in, with the litter all strewn across the front of the property, it added a really stark contrast to what once was.

I would say since it's a broach and a pendant, it was most likely being worn as a pendant on a chain that broke when it was lost, there maybe a chain nearby, but they are notoriously hard to detect.
