Brass handle/knob, possibly 1800's?

Hello. While metal detecting I found this brass door or cabinet handle in my backyard, it's rather small in size. Homestead has been here since early 1800's, if that helps. If anyone knows anything about knobs maybe you could share your thoughts on this one. Thank you kindly :)

I'm not an expert, but I have noticed that ones from the 1840s and earlier tend to be smaller than the later ones, like 1890-1910.

From the square hole I would agree with POE that you got a doorknob, not a cobinet knob.

I'm not sure how to date it, all I would say is it is from a room door & 19th C.
