Managed to find this button, and wanted to share the before and after pictures after some cleaning. The before is just a scrub with some soapy water. The finish was done with the help of some lemmon juice!

turned out beautifully :)

You can wish for buddies, but unless a uniform got burnt on the field, the chances of another one coming off the same jacket is low.(not impossible, just unlikely) Other types are more likely...

Pretty unlikely the coat was thrown away at that point because it was no more than a few years old and obviously still being used by the soldier.

Beautiful button!! One I have not seen before. I like it!!

that was my point, really

Gorgeous button!

Very, Very nice indeed. I got a 66th last year, but not near the amount of silver left on it.

That is one AWESOME BUTTON, CONGRATS on that button. My Banner vote is in, condition and rarity make this a BANNER FIND for sure

I am surprised it cleaned so well for its age. Great restoration and save on an obviously very rare to find button!

That is a beautiful button! Man I can't believe how well it cleaned up. To me that is easily banner worthy. No offense to some of the jewelry and stuff that goes up sometimes but to me the historical significance and condition of that baby coupled with the fact that a very low percentage of the few in the ground are gonna come out looking like that, let's start this banner party. Take a few nice close ups of it. I'm gonna vote. Love it

gave it another scrub and cleared a bit more grime off it and this is as good a closeup as I can get with my own camera

In all the thousands & thousands of buttons I have found, I only have 1 silvered officers Button as nice as that one (not this Reg), but the fact you got it over there makes the History far more important than mine!
