Bronze fasteners

Dont bronze fasteners follow copper sheathing?

Copper alloy (bronze) fasteners did not come into widespread use until after 1780. See McCarthy's "Ships Fastenings" p 103-104.

Thanks, that's about the timeline I was thinking. I know the British didn't really get going with it until the 1800's & "Muntz's" metal

AUVnav is correct - the copper alloy nails were introduced because of the galvanic corrosion that occurred due to the iron nails being in contact with the copper sheathing.
