Buckle

I found this buckle near an old cabin site dating back to 1841. Any information that can be provided on this buckle would be appreciated. The buckle measures 3-1/4" x 2".

That's a model 1851 Sword Belt Plate. Killer find!

It originally had an applied silver wreath (most of these are gone on the excavated examples). Although it looks like bits of yours remain attached to the front of the plate.
