This was a criminal act and I hope they prosecute the contractor to the point that he has nothing--- no business--- no house--- no money. But probably won't happen.

There will be a payoff, a slap on the wrist and all will be forgiven.

Such a shame, now it's gone forever.

it is happening all the time. In America we are always building on burial grounds and have torn down many many mounds in my area. It is the norm and very sad.

As mentioned above, we should not be so quick to cast stones......one need look around at what is destroyed here in America.
Not saying it is right, but then again, I know not all the facts about it........hard to imagine tearing it down and missing all the artifacts.......

Ya, very sad, they shouldn't have to salvage anything...it should be just left alone. I just can't imagine that something like this could still happen.
On the other hand, Frac mining will soon take its toll in my neighborhood, really bummed.

Yep they built a huge distribution center here on an ancient burial ground. Happens everywhere as one civilization builds upon another. Still stinks though especially when we are the ones to build over the oldest in the area.

I heard a story today from a person at work. He said there was once a huge stone carving of a Eagle around here carved by the Indians and the state took it to make a road with it. Broke it all up and then used it for road material.

I heard there were stone pyramids in mississsippi, alabama. They were torn down and the stones used for construction in the early 1800s.
