This wasn't found today, more like a year ago. I'm new to the forum so i decided to post some of my finds that happened previous to joining. I found all of these coins in my own yard amongst broken glass which I'm assuming was a jar they were buried in. It was approximately 2 feet away from the corner of my house. I think i found it on accident or pure luck. I had a solid dime signal so i pinpointed and dug the plug. I ended up making the plug a bit deeper than needed and the target was in the middle of the plug. After digging it out, it ended up being a clad dime. I stuck my pro pointer down in the hole and it was giving me a slight signal so i decided to dig hoping the dime had a friend. It ended up having 44 friends ! I couldn't believe it and i wish i would have gotten pics or live video. I called my roommate, who was in the house, to tell him i found someones buried money. He obviously ran outside to see what was going on. So in my opinion if it wasn't for that clad dime being dropped right on top of it and me digging too deep of a plug, i probably wouldn't have found this cache with my fisher f2. I hope i get lucky like this again in the future, though i doubt it. Here is a pic of all the coins together on my porch just minutes after unearthing them and a quick rinse with water. The lucky clad dime is at the far left. Oh and by the way, this was my first detected silver! 2012-05-08_19-58-38_595.webp

Welcome Gierbitz.
IF it were I: I would have put that clad dime in a holder and would keep it forever, it could be a truly lucky dime!

Next: Those are some terrific coins -barbers, standing LQ, Buffalo Nickels and what looks like a Canadian coin and likely silver.
You sir had yourself quite a find! Congratulations!

And Then: The person holding that fish should also be quite happy, lake Trout? Ice fishing? I would say you are having an adventurous life! May the majority of them be happy ones!......................63bkpkr

Thanks! The dime has been set aside in a holder as well as all of the other coins. I put them all together in a coin book to keep them all separate from any other of my finds.

That's me holding the fish. It was a beautiful brown trout caught and released while ice fishing Quaker lake in Allegheny state park in my home state of NY. Fishing and hunting is where all my free time went, and then i bought a metal detector. The fishing and hunting has definitely slowed down since the metal detector purchase but I'm ok with that. I was able to bring 10 walleye into the boat yesterday so I'm still managing all my hobbies :) Good luck out there

Great story. GREAT Cache!

Thanks for posting this!

Nice finds Gierbitz.

Hunt that spot hard, people that buried money seldom put all their eggs in one basket.

Good luck.

Cool. I believe your coins (Canadian) are sterling.

Thats an awesome yard hunt.....:headbang:

that's awesome! if someone buried one, it's possible they buried another. put yourself in their head and think where another could be

Great story on the recovery of the coin cache.

Great finds & nice post. I'd carry that clad dime with me.

Great score ! What are the latest dates (curious as to when the stash was buried )

Thank you! Funny I found a 1903 quarter last week too :) looking at a 50$ quarter there as only 800,000 were minted

That is an Awesome Find & Story! I think we all dream of finding a jar full of old coins! Congrats :icon_thumleft:

Great story and look well around since people often bury more than one cache
