Cache Recovery success!

[Metal Detecting Stuff]

We have been helping a property owner recover some caches buried by now deceased relatives on 4.5 acres of land. We have found three caches with detectors, and the owner found two on their own (under birdbath, etc.).

The first recovery was a 5 gallon container with a mixture of silver and clad:




This container broke, so a wheelbarrow was used to hold the coins:





The second one was a one gallon milk jug filled with silver coins:





The last one was recovered from a depth of approximately three feet - it was a one gallon bucket with lid filled with 500 90% silver halfs:




We did a video of the last recovery.



We still have two to find before the property changes hands in two weeks, wish us luck!

Some of the silver was in a mint style bag from a bullion company. But the wheel barrow coins were probably saved up for many years.

We used a Garrett GTI2500 with the TreasureHound Depth Multiplier. It was the only one that got a reading on that particular cache.

We were assisting a property owner recover the caches. He has serious medical problems, and the funds from the caches are being used to pay for medical treatments.

Love it. You have to admire the guy! Hey, don't forget to check the attic and basement or crawl space too. Maybe a box in the garage with books and gold bars. This is a real doozy! You'll have to tell us their story sometime.

The birdbath is a classic hiding place. Folks like to pick a spot that is easy to find again - and many of them want a location they can literally keep an eye on.

From Deek Gladson's great Sudden Wealth (1964): "A Minnesota doctor hid an estimated $35,000 to $50,000 in a birdbath near his home. A yardman suspected something was hidden in or near the fixture because he had been instructed repeatedly not to work near it. Nearly 25 years later, he casually related his suspicions about money or dope being hidden there. A treasure hunter heard the story and took action."
