Hard to tell, looks similar to obsidian.

You have found some "pink lady". My rockhounding club makes at least one trip a year to Davis Creek, north of Alturas, Ca. (in far NE corner). They go in
search of Obsidian (natural volcanic glass) with distinct color variations. There is gold sheen, silver sheen, rainbow, electric blue, snowflake, and "pink
lady". Pink lady is highly prized for polishing - I have a small piece of pink lady (not as colorful as your big chunk) on a "dop stick" right now. I would guess
if you showed your chunk at a meeting of the rock club, you'd get an offer of 20$ or more. Better return to the location and try to find more!! GL. P.S. - Flintknappers love pink lady.

I have a few pieces of some nice silver sheen.. Pretty stuff.. Never seen the the nice coloration of this one though.. Really cool!

Thank you everyone I went looking at images on web and it looks mostly like amethyst to me, I didn't see it looking like obsidian. I have to take better photos and post later. The river it came from Is right by Clear lake biggest lake in california and has many crystal. Who knows where it really came from that is just what the lady told me

this is how I see the rock except mine is smooth.

I will keep informed. Thank You again for help

Do a hardness test on it. Try to scratch it with a known piece of quartz. Quartz is harder so if it is obsidion it will leave a scratch. If it doesn't leave a scratch then it is probably amythest

Looks to be a nice piece of amethyst.

How hard do I press down to scratch it. Some other people said it looks like a bunch of melted glass but it has rock on outter part and lines through it, although I think I see small rock on one part of it,
