Hello all...
I was on a club hunt this past week and we were hunting in some woods.
As usual I strayed from the pack and found myself on the other side of the dried up creek bed.
I was just drawn to go that direction and I am glad I did.
After just crossing the dry creek bed just about 30 feet to the other side I got an iffy dime signal, reading a 72 on my F75.
I thought oh well I will dig it anyway just to see what is was and to my delight it was a 1952 Roosevelt Dime. This ended my 14 year silver streak and gave me more confidence in my Fisher F75.
I thought oh yeah, I am hunting in the right area.

I hadn't even been hunting for less than 15 minutes and made a good score and figured this day is going to be good.
My second find was even better. I got a dime signal again that was really weird at the base of an old tree.
My first thought... "Bottle Cap", but then I thought my as well dig it and see what it is and I found a badge.
After digging the signal, at first I thought it was a real old police badge after rubbing some of the dirt off I could see "Captain Midnight"
Cool, I said I could probably return this old badge to Captain Midnight somehow.
Then I rubbed the rest of the dirt off as best as I could and thought oh... this is just some old toy badge.

11:30 AM rolls around time to meet with the other club members to share our finds. I was excited after several of the members said you have a good find there.
I said, "I do?" I had never heard of Captain Midnight, so I did a little research and found that back in September of 1940 Captain Midnight was a hero that began on a radio show. Then appeared in comic book in 1941. Captain Midnight was really the aviator Captain Albright, who was to defeat the Nazis. A movie serial was made in 1942 and a comic strip was published for a short time. The comic book Captain Midnight ended his career in 1948. The radio premiums are the prized collector memorabilia today. The badge I found dates to about 1941 and still has the decoder that spins around, the only thing missing is the pin on the back.
Ebay sales for this were from about $30.00 to $75.00 depending on condition.
Well after researching my find I was a tad bit more excited.

HH and Enjoy the past!
PS. I also found 3-Wheaties 1941, 1944, and 1957 and a 1967 dime.

Sheesh, and I thought it was a slump when it's been a couple of months. I guess now a couple months doesn't seem so bad. Hopefully now you'll be in the silver again for a long time!
