Today I snuck out for a 45 min. hunt behind the house and was able to dig this spoon. Pretty shiny right out of the ground. Pretty sure that it is silver. Not plated..... 10.5 Grams. No hallmarks or any other marks on it that I can find. I have found quite a few of this same style spoon but they are always some sort of copper alloy. I am kinda cherry pickin these new hunting grounds right now so I cant wait untill I have the time to slow down and hunt it right.

I think that spoon has some decent age to it! :icon_thumright:
I've always wondered . . . how do they get chewed up like that?
Is it usually plow damage? :icon_scratch:

I dug a spoon kinda like that, mine wasn't silver though. Still old and a nice find, but I'd rather find the silver one any day. Nice dig!

Coin silver spoon  MaineRelic

I would certainly rather have that than a sharp stick in the eye! Silver is silver.

I would bet an old hog chewed that for awhile before deciding it wasn't food.
Good melt silver!!

I try to hunt the older sites in my area, so I dont find much silver. It seems kinda nice to see some in the bottom of a hole. Not a coin but I will take it !!

Thank You for all of the replies !
