TexCon, I guess our problem was that Gus came up from the south and dropped sooooo much rain, in already saturated land, that our 20" had no place to go. It just all began to pile up, then stack really high up, and finally found no place to go.
I consider us, me and Dan, very lucky. We're only about a foot higher than 100 year flood, but it worked. We stayed several feet above at the greenhouse and cabin from being flooded. You should have seen our chickens. During the height of the storm, several hours of 30-40-50 mph winds, they hunkered down all over the place. We found chickens in all manner of disposition. Have 3 with babies. Very grumpy!! But surviving very well!
