Civil War? Buttons

Howdy All, I just got this pile of "Civil War" buttons on Ebay. I really know nothing about buttons so thought i would ask if any are really Civil War or not. First pic is the whole pile. Next 4 pics are small dark buttons. Next pic is of back of small shiny buttons {front is same as dark buttons}. Next 2 pics are screw backs. Next 2 are large shiny buttons. Next 3 are large dark buttons. Next 2 are of plain front button. Last 2 are Navy buttons. Quarter, Dime, and Nickle are for size. Names on backs are ARNSTEIN SIMON & CO, SCOVILL MFG CO. WATERBURY, EVANS & CO., RIDABOCK & CO. NY, . Thanks in advance for any help. I only have about $25 in the pile so no great loss if they are not. steve

Yah still a good deal indeed for $25. Just makes yah be extra careful though for the next one.

and who knows im sure the seller didnt mean too. But still not kewl posting Civil War items that are WWI when money is involved.

I would demand a partial refund.

I sell on eBay myself and if I accidentally misrepresented an item this blatantly, I will offer the buyer a partial refund just to keep my feedback perfect and let him keep the product.

How do we look up a seller to see what else he is misrepresenting?

I checked all 19 pages of his items for sale and no other Civil War or any military stuff.

Indian Mike is sending out a RIDABUCK button for my collection free of charge. I try to save one of every type backmark. Who knows someday the prices of Great Seal buttons may go up. To me its interesting all the different manufacturers. Thanks.

Buttons can be very tricky. I purchased some authentic Union Navy buttons that may be Civil War but had little value. I thought I made a great buy.

Here are 3 basic US Army designs: Left to right, Great Seal, Indian Wars (chicken eagle) and Civil War. As you can see, the Great Seal of the United States can never be mistaken for a Civil War eagle.
