So today I got out of work a little early so I decided to swing by a cellar hole close to home. The only nice thing that came from this site was a pretty Civil War CT seal button. Somethin told me today I better get up there and see what kind of signals I can get with my new machine. And check this out! I thought it was a Condor token, or New Jersey copper at first being that it is the same size as a large copper....but even better! Civil War Dog Tags....Against Rebellion 1861. Using my ancient chinese cleaning secret she polished up pretty good. This is a very exciting find for me....however, I was kind of let down not being able to find a name or initials on the back.....I think they may have been there but I may have destroyed them. This is now one of my all time favorite relics! Thanks for lookin folks!

she looks good up there.

Congrats Sniffy.. that's my goal is to find a set of those this year :headbang:

Congrats on a great find and banner, you did a nice job cleaning it up also!

Congrats! :hello2: :hello2: :hello2:

I believe it's worth an effort to work on the back and get some detail. Without the information there now you really can't lose much? Perhaps a professional cleaning? From one site I saw an auction value of $900 so it may be worth the extra effort?

This is the type of Civil War relic that I like digging. They use to be dug so much more often than they are today, now days it is a prize for certain when you find one, especially up where you are from. My Compliments!

A very rare find indeed as I have never seen one either. I agree w/ Jersey Hunter....what is the Chinese secret....the boiling peroxide method?
