These areas areound Virginia are really beginning to be hunted to extinction except for those few places that you research and find or the few places on private property that you can get permission to dig. Can you tell me about how thick those plates are? Are they substantial or fragile?

Why thank you !!! **Most** are pretty sturdy.. every once in a while you get one that is starting to seperate.. they are brass stamped and then the backs are filled with lead so they are.. hmm.. maybe 3/8" at the thickest part.. I have two that are just the brass.. the lead is gone..
Sounds like you need to plan a trip down South and dig a couple one of these days!!!

I didn't quite do the Monkey dance.. it had been a long morning in the woods.. but made my day! Well.. metal detecting wise it did!!!
