coin possibly from the 1600's found updated

i took my nephew out mding for his first time and i guess he was good luck 4 me this token is the first of its kind ive found but my second token ever and both in a week from the same spot any help translating would be greatfull thinks for lookin

Sorry to do this to you...but you'll want to change your title again...

Looks like I was off base with the ID. Your coin is ACTUALLY JAPANESE, and they were minted continuously from 1626 to 1859...so the GOOD news is that your coin is OLD...the bad news is it is not as old as I previously thought.

That's the way I feel about these coins too...I usually can't wait to get home and look 'em up. I know some hunters that throw 'em in the junk box. Guess it depends on the person... Sorry about the incorrect ID I get a little ahead of myself sometimes in trying to beat PBK to the punch.

My son found one like that...it's around here somewhere. I thought it was fake..as it did not look like the real thing to me.

If I can find where I threw it at...I'll post a pic...and maybe reevaluate my thoughts on this strange item.

My son doesn't remember where he found it though...
