UPDATE:

I'm 90% certain the dateless buff is a 1918D and 50% certain the dateless SLQ is a 23S

Hey everyone,

I'm looking at wedding venues with my fiancée this afternoon so that means I needed to get up early if I wanted detecting time.

I got to my site at before 7 am and detected by headlamp to start. I was there for around 3 hours in total. I confirmed today that this site has been hit by numerous others, but there's still good stuff there. I started by an area I thought would be obvious and started finding some copper memorials. That's a good sign in my book. Where there are copper memorials there are likely wheats and where there are wheats there is often silver!

On my third hole of the day I got a penny signal at 1.5". I was just expecting a Memorial and was surprised to see I'd found a Merc! 1940S.

My day was already made 10 minutes in. Probably 15 minutes later I got a decent signal at 5"-6". I start digging and see a silver rim pop out onto my towel and at least 2 coins. I just about lost it. There was a barber quarter and an SLQ with a buff stuck to it. I freaked out and texted my dad and brother thinking that was it.

I stuck the pinpointer back in the hole and found out there was more! Another barber and another SLQ.

Here they all are fresh out of the hole:

Here's my text thread with my dad and brother so you can share in my excitement. Excuse my language, I tried to scratch it out.

Three silvers was my previous high silvers in a day. Blew that out with one hole! I soldiered on for a while longer and locked in on a silver Rosie and 3 wheats.

Suffice it to say, this was an epic day. Can't wait to get back to this site.

Totals:
-2 Barber Quarters (1897, 1904)
-2 SLQs (1924-S, Dateless-S)
-1 Buff (Dateless)
-1 Merc (1940S)
-1 Rosie (1954D)
-3 Wheats (30S, 48S, 58D)

Also found a cool old tootsie toy car. It says Tootsie Toy Chicago Model B.

Any recommendations for how to get a date off the SLQ and buff without damaging the coins? I can see something faint but just can't quite see it.

Happy hunting all!

The excitement must have been overwhelming! It is almost as fun reading about your great hunt as it is hunting....I did say, “Almost.”[emoji4][emoji301]️Congratulations!

My goodness, it was overwhelming. I couldn't concentrate and had to sit down.

Super super and super haul of coins you have unearthed there. AND THAT NICE 1924 SLQ with a very legible date should bring big bucks.

Thank you, yes! I need to spend some time figuring out what it might rate at but I'm thinking at least an XF, maybe higher! (minus environmental damages of course)

Holy crap, congrats that's awesome. I had a merc I posted on here that gave me a 100% penny signal....I understand how great that is to pull out a merc expecting a penny. Awesome spill!

Thanks Vhoov, I've found several mercs like that now. So weird how they can ring up lower.

Big congrats on a spectacular set of finds.

That’s really impressive... YOU did as good in one hole, as I’ve done in 4 years! I’ve got 3 SLQs and 1Barber quarter in 4 years. Wow.

Thanks CT, just trying to keep up with the example you set!!

You have worked diligently and deserve a nice spill like this. Awesome recoveries that will be a sweet memory for the rest of your life. Well done mate. Get the stragglers.

Thank you K1, that's kind. I have been working hard and the silvers had to follow eventually. Hopefully with some more hard work I can unearth some more goodies!

weren't you struggling to find a silver just a month or so ago? looks like you are making up for it all in short order

You're right DL, I am the same man. Looks like things have averaged themselves out for sure.

Amazing spill and congrats! It's so interesting to me how folks back then had a number of different coins in circulation at the same time. We've been stuck with the same old, same old for too long!

John

Yeah, this spill looks like it was lost in the late 20s/early 30s. Pretty fun mix of coins back in those days!

What a dream spill- as an SLQ lover, even more incredible- Congrats!

that's awesome. congrats! that '24 is in great shape

What an amazing hunt !!! Multiple silver days are very rare around here !!!

That is an epic hunt with a spill like that.
Love that you added the play by play texting, adds to the excitement.
Congrats

The Buff and the SLQ are notorious for losing their date at the high relief point. Try a small flashlight shined horizontally across the coin as low as you can shine it across....Maybe it will show better. Nice post of a memorable spill, congrats.
