My ASE's and quality numismatic finds are stored in AirTite coin holders. My junk silver coins are stored in rolls. I'm not going to post here where I store the silver stash, sorry.

I have no problem telling you where I store them. IN A SAFE DEPOSIT BOX, never at home. If they are at home they are in a safe
that is fire and water resistant, bolted to the floor behind a steel door. Oh by the way, I have five dobermans that don't take kindly
to unannounced visitors so be very cautious if you visit.....

This topic comes up every so often. Diversity is the safest way to store them bar "none"

How anyone can think their way is the only "safest" way is amusing since any "one" of what someone thinks is the safest has proven to not be.

Safety deposit boxes have been confiscated or illegaly taken by the goverment not to mention how much has been lost to other means [look it up theres a reason they offer insurance]

Houses have been robbed , flooded etc where all but the biggest heaviest safes have been lost.

The biggest heaviest safes can still be robbed especially by another family member.

It is said that a good thief knows exactly where your "safest hiding place" is

I keep my 40%ers in the paper NF String rolls that I get from boxes. 90%ers go in plastic coin tubes. That way I can easily tell them apart.

And I am not saying where I store them

That's the way that I took it too. I think he wants to know the best way to store them so that they don't tarnish or ruin. I don't think he cares to know that your secret hiding place is under your bed...

I took it that way also, when I posted "Behind my guns" I was just
trying to make funny, I'm sorry if I deflected the thread off topic.
I have silver in plastic tubes, fancy cases, and cardboard tubes
from food saver bag rolls, oh yeah, I have some coins vacuum
sealed in food saver bags also,

....Stored in Rolls (the plastic ones for ASE's), little plastic ziplock baggies, a locking bank bag, and some of those air-tight coin holders in a safe........

Personally I keep mine in a stainless steel airtight container that I need to fish out of the bottom of my septic tank once a week to add my ag to. You are welcome to come an get it anytime you want.

Um... I wouldn't seal them in plastic. Food grade plastic (like what most will be vacuum sealed in) usually contains PVC. Over time, PVC will create green slime on your coins which will damage them.

Mylar is coin safe and is used in most newer cardboard 2x2s, if you could vacuum seal with that, it might work. But do not use food grade plastics or anything containing PVC on coins.

The U.S. Government has the authority to prohibit the private possession of gold and silver coin and bullion by U.S. citizens during wartime and declared emergencies. Which is why I keep mine in the sock drawer.
