Got this 30 inch walleye in my boat today, water temp 39 degrees, air temp 45. Caught on the Susquehanna river here in north / central ny state. Also got a 26 inch walleye, released them both for breeders. Also reeled in over 40 smallmouth bass all between 12 and 18 inches, released them all---but kept 4 nice jack perch for diner---Just a great early winter day :icon_thumright:--------View attachment fish.bmp

Yum Yum walleye's my favorite, to bad you had to put it back. I've never caught one that big :icon_thumright:.

Boats have been anchored on deep holes here on the Susquehanna for the past week. I figured they were walleye fishing too. The Susquehanna is a premier smallmouth producer, isn't it?

Yes, ive got over 200 smallmouth bass in 4 days this week. Its funny , we cant find them all summer, but when the water gets in the 30s , they are all over the place and big ones ! Taken our 3 kids out tomorrow, I hope they latch into them. Fun to watch the kids battle big bass-----if I get any good pics with the kids fishing ill post it---:icon_thumright:

I used to fish constantly, till I got my MD..now my rods sit in the corner.:tongue3:

GOD Bless

Chris

That's a nice big walleye!

Congrats, and good on you for taking the kids out fishing!

wow I would love to go fishin with you ( only at 75 or higher)

what do you use on the smallmouth?

I have a nice small lake nearby I might try it before it gets too cold

Try a white 3" grub on a jig head, Jeff. Guaranteed to catch anything. I like to swim it instead of jigging it.

I always lose the grubs guts when I use them

Live shiners are a guaranteed bait.

I had a double jointed lure exactly like this one made by Mirror that was a killer on Walleye in Minnesota. I found it on the shore and then later on I got it snagged and lost it. I purchase another that was not quite the same color, but it didn't have the same effect on the fish as this silver grey one did.

I keep looking at boats and floaters on craigslist lately. I've had the fishing bug for a while now, but I hear this women in this house throwing a statement that goes like this all to often "this weekend can you" ??#%**??:icon_scratch:

when you get the boat get duct tape too. two times around her mouth will solve it

Pretty fish. The Great White of freshwater, as well as the pikes. Can't forget them.
