Cone for what and when?

My brother found this today. We found about 45 round balls .69 and .54 caliber. A few smaller and bucky balls. This item is about 3.5 inches long and about .375 at the base. Is is a shako cap point or maybe a scabbard point, or is it Native? Thanks for your attention and your help is much appreciated.

Tin cones could be worn for/as tinklers. The sight and sound they make when you move when wearing them.
Your piece looks large for a tinkler.
Arrowheads could be made similar with copper. Or I suppose sheet metal. You might compare the size of your recovery with known arrowheads.

A bundle of horsehair could be crimped in a cone then trimmed level for a pan brush on a flintlock. The small end secured by a tether.
Or to wear parts of scalps or even family hair sample tokens.

Thanks for the examples, I think this cone is brass. My brother found it, so I haven't examined it closely.

Where was it found? I am in south Georgia and have found several at an old village/ trade site. Some with the open end like yours were used for different things. I have also found them with a closed pointed end that were used as arrow heads. They were made of copper and date to the late 1790s.
I will post a picture of mine tomorrow. I have to dig the frame out of my closet.

It was three frames from the bottom of the stack. These all came from a site southeast of Columbus, Ga. quite a few years ago. Sad to say the site no longer exists! The top 3 rows are all gun parts. Next 3 rows are buttons and cufflinks. Below the lead balls are the tinklers and points. Notice how some of them have a closed sharp point. The bottom rows are all silver pieces.The small cones were tinklers or earrings. The center piece in the plastic holder is what is left of a pewter George Washington token.
