Confederate Button?

I found this today. Could the CS stand for Confederate States?

It was found where there were both Union and Confederate Camps.

I'm a bit in doubt as I can't find that button in Tice's book or Albert's book.

I did a pretty extensive search on the net and found just one like it . on pintrest of all places. so your doubt may be founded but it sure looks old.

I found out more on my button It was made in Hempstead, TX at the Houston Quartermasters Depot forge. Captain Wharton, who worked at Houston Depot, during the Civil War, said we are making a "MUFFIN" shaped button thus the name Muffin button was used. I am told one metal detectorist has found four other examples of this same button...

If it is a T. Miller button, it is quite uncommon, but still should have been captured by Albert or Tice. I would refer to those references.

ColtsPop is correct. That is a T. Miller solid cast "muffin" button. 100% Confederate Civil War button.

can you show any known examples? I found just one . if it's real it must be very rare and banner worthy . I'm surprised at the lack of interest this button has drawn .

I am not seeing CS, it looks more like OS to me. But, my eyes aren't what they used to be.
