Confederate Button?

I found this today. Could the CS stand for Confederate States?

It was found where there were both Union and Confederate Camps.

I found out more on my button It was made in Hempstead, TX at the Houston Quartermasters Depot forge. Captain Wharton, who worked at Houston Depot, during the Civil War, said we are making a "MUFFIN" shaped button thus the name Muffin button was used. I am told one metal detectorist has found four other examples of this same button...
