Decided to detect a bit before work and found a nice little gold medallion w the broken chain right next to it.

I also found a dime in the same hole as if he dropped a dime too. 😂

It might be a commemoration piece for remembering a fallen officer.

It is a wife/husband/sweetheart badge pendant. As stated, the number on the bottom panel is able to be researched. It may be older (20+) years as the eagle-topped shield was replaced by an LAPD style oval shield years ago. You would be a hero in my book and worthy of an "Honorable Mention" on this prestigious site if able to return it to the owner. Just my 2 cents, , Cheers, Sub
