found recently...

<img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=761072"/><img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=761079"/> still some cortex on top, maker figured it was about useless at this point and put an edge on it.

this second piece is real purty IMO and is pretty well reduced. It rings when tapped...

I have oodles of pieces just like that first one. All used up... may as well use it for something. I think you're exactly right about what that piece is.

I got some cores today I took a group shot.

Thought I would add a couple too.
One is a quartz core.

Those are pretty GB. Has there ever been Coral cores before?

Sure.. there is alot more in the Tampa area since that's where the main source is in these parts.

I love cores/bladelets, as 37 mentioned they are often great examples of local material and patina.

I don't use a cooler, I use plastic bags for bladelets.

A couple of obsidian cores & bladelets from Mexico.

Great stuff Joshua, love the exotic materials. Thanks for the look.

WOW those are some nice cores everyone.
@ 37 they even made the cores pretty when they were done. Some of the ones I find are small enough to be beads but not drilled.

Hopewell core i found last week.

@ pickaway very nice color on that one and some good detail.

I guess I will add this one to this thread. Its the first quartzite core I have ever found.
Anyone else can add theirs to if you have some new ones.

This thread was screaming my name haha . Here are cores, preforms, and even a quartz core fro different reduction sites . The flat piece is around half inch thick . That is how Dover chert splits apart . I've saw some pieces 1 1/2 inches thick any questions feel free . And does the one with long channel flakes removed a possible paleo core

Sorry haha here are pics

Photo #1 looks like two hafted end scrapers or cutting tools.
#3 has a nice scraper.
#4 the multiple sided square is definitely a core.
You sure do find alot of knapped stone.
Ha.. the last one is a Dang nice wide glide core.

The last one is my most valuable core and the round black piece is slag glass found on a reduction site which would put it there in the early 1800's ? Is this possible
