Cormorants Redfin and a mob of Roos

[Chilli]

This was at the lake yesterday. Was lucky enough to have a big mob of roos come to the waters edge for a drink. They were a couple of hundred meters away and I was spewing I didn't have my tripod I have on order. Pictures ok but video was real shaky at that lens stretch.
Couple of small Redfin.

Cormorants.

Roos.

Nice looking perch! Are they tasty?

We get Cormorants on the river that look just the same as yours. Generally when there is a big storm, they'll sit on a log just across the river with their wings outstretched, and on occasion dive for a fish.

I thought the pics AND the video were great. BTW, how did you post the video?

Hi yeah they are lovely to eat. I got 3 keeper size several days ago. They love bright colours like flouro green and pink.
Went back today and lost 2 nice rainbow trout. One took me into a snag and was still on but I couldn't get it of so after 5 minutes hoping it might get itself off I pulled the line and broke it. The other went crazy and threw the hooks doing a summersault. Both on spinners with red tail feathers. One more go tomorrow. 😄

Hi I just cut the original that was minutes long down on a free editor on my phone. Then just clicked attach files and retrieved it out of my files like I would for a photo. On an Android phone. The editor is Youcut. It's free but you see game adds as you wait for your video to get converted, 2 minutes average.

Cool sights Chilli. I started seeing more and more cormorants around my area each year it seems. Decades ago it wasn't a bird you'd see in the high and dry mountain plains. Maybe the things we've changed, altered and added to the landscape have made it more of an ideal habitat for them in the way of so many more small retention ponds they've put here and there in all the new housing developments popping up like weeds along what's called the I-25 corridor in the state of Colorado.

Great pictures! We've got perch and cormorants in New Jersey. No kangaroos...yet

Hi mate I reckon they have increased in our areas hugely over the past 2 decades due to the increased fish stockings by the govt. I'm not convinced the increased stocking has had the desired effect as it's caused a boom in Cormorants in all the waters. They're clever as you know and go where they know an easy feed is.

Nice pics, those Kangaroos are silly looking things. We have lots of Comorants here in Florida.

Thanks. They are a very odd creature at times. I have seen them box a couple of times and that's funny to watch. I hope one day to personally video or photograph them doing it. When in full hop mode the distance between hops is something to see. They are airborne for several meters. I love seeing them leap over fences like they are nothing. But unfortunately now n then they get it wrong. I always carry in my car a pair of good wire cutters.
1 in case I'm detecting in the bush and need a quick exit in a fire situation to cut a fence for safety.
2 For animals. Iv cut out of fences, barbed wire, a few sheep over the years as well as native animals like Roos and Wallabies.
Sadly I often see roos dead hanging on fences, but never an adult, young juvenile ones that can't clear them properly.
I personally do not see the point of barb wire fences here in Australia.
Most roos are more clever than farmers think.
I see over and over clear scrapes from them going under the fence, wised up to not jumping over.
It's good though here to see many farmers have clicked and are removing the barbed wire and just using higher ringlock.
