Couldn't Have Found A Better Find On A Special Day For My Dad
Hello All,
Got together with Terry Everly today for a cold hunt. We mainly hit some of my old spots and a few gave up some more goods that I have missed during previous hunts. Came home with a 1904 IH in bad shape, a 1936 Merc, and best of all all Badge thingy that you used to be able to get at the local fairs back in the early years. Also Found a token at the old school ground I have been hunting. Any help ID'ing it??But to me this was not your usual find. Instead, it was one with my Father's name on it when he was 12 years old back in 1947. He just turned 75!! This may not be a big deal to some but to me, and especially him on his birthday it couldn't have been better timed.
I didn't realize what it was until I got home and cleaned it up. It reads" Joseph R. Smith 12 Woodstock, Ohio. I almost fell over when I read it. He had just left my house to go back home. I called him immediately and told him. He couldn't believe it either
So finding this really meant alot to me I was and still am excited. More stranger is the fact that the guy who let me hunt this place (The Smith Family Homested since the 1920's. ) Just finished moving out today. I may not ever be able to hunt there again
My Great Grandfather, Grandfather and Father lived there at one time. They sold out in the early 50's. My Grandmother raised 12 Kids there. Anyways, thought you might like the story. Thanks for looking, Ron
