Today was one of those long, "control your emotions or somebody else will" days. Glad to have that echoing in my mind. I tried the 'take NOTHING personal' approach; unfortunately, it leads to bad medicine. I invest a little piece of myself in all of my patients and a larger piece of myself in some of my patients. Giving them my person allows them the strength to carry on and rebuild. Occasionally, they return that piece to me. Most of the time they keep it in their pocket for "when all other lights go out." As long as I control when and how much of myself is given, and as long as I control my emotions, then a balance can be struck. Those that choose to see will see, those that do not want to or are not ready will discard that piece on the side of the road...and throw out a little bit of me with them.

To answer Squiggy's question: It has everything to do with this thread. If we did not take some things personally then we would not be giving a little piece of ourselves to each other. I've been quiet about it because I don't want to ruin his reputation but GIB was extremely helpful in sorting out a crisis in my life, Bill has been as well,...the list goes on and on. Perhaps that is why WorldTalker is not on the list. He has transcended to the next level. By the time I get to be his age I pray that I will have transcended as well. Until then....

Here's one to get you up and dancing......a bit of background....Ronnie Hawkins and Levon Helm moved up to Canada from Arkansas in 1959 or some such and never looked back.....

The Band was his back up group before going solo.....he's quite the character.....a story I heard was he was flirting with some gal or other way back when.....his comment was "stick with me and I'll have you farting through silk sheets".....not very romantic but funny nevertheless....lol...

Folks,

A bit of a chuckle at my expense....went out yesterday for an hour of so in the rain with the wind howling and dug a bit of junk and a few coins....when I got home I rinsed off the 2 older coins.....1929 + 1942 and I managed to ding both of them...luckily I'm not a surgeon or my patients would be in trouble...lol.
