What's new

CRISPINS CRITTERS

Oh, and speaking of crazy cat ladies, I'll share a story..... :laughing7:
When I worked at Kroger in SW Ga as a teenager, there was a crazy cat lady in our town.
She always bought nothing but cat food, I think she ate it too.
But what was weird, when you would see her on a street corner or tooling through the store, anywhere,
she would always be licking her hands and smearing her eyebrows, hair, whiskers, (?) I dunno :dontknow:
Surely there were some "issues"........ :icon_scratch:

I'm Back.

A bit earlier than I wanted....

No bears this trip.
A bit soon for the blackberries to ripen.

I've a full week ahead....

I have many photos of my adventure and will begin a narrative in my camping thread soon.

What shall the title of this journey be?

"Respite in the Mountain?"
"End of Spring Semester?"
"Back To Nature?"
"Spring Sojourn in the Mountains?"

Here's a little "teaser"
of my encounters....

Yes,
I have respect for ALL Critters.

Barb,

You were frequently on my mind all weekend...
Affectionately, of course.

Happy Mother's Day to All!

If you are still fortunate enough to have your Mom still with us,

Let her know of your love everyday and especially today!

When I spoke of "fond memories,"
Here's one of mine....

IMG_1373.webp

But, Who's "Santa?"
Yep....
Me!
----------------------

Here's a pic of my ONLY Niece when she was 2 months old.

She Graduates High School this year and
I just heard that she has been accepted to Kansas State University on an Academic and Music Scholarship!

One more picture,
With my Mom and me.
And the guy she re-married.

There's a story here....

Must have been back about the late 80's.

I lived in KC and my Mom lived in Lawrence.
She told me that she had met a guy and they were going to get married.

I said, "Really?"
"I want to meet him."

So the following weekend, they were to have a little "cook-out."
Just us three.

I showed up and was introduced.
We made small talk for about 15 minutes when I said,

'Say, Guy, let's go for a short ride, and get some Guinness (STOUT)"

He says, "OK."

I'm driving, my car, he's in the passenger seat and about 3 blocks away,
I pull off to the side of the road, look him dead in the eye,
And said,

"Say, My Mom seems to be happy with you. That's good enough for me."
"But, let me tell you something, If I ever hear that you made her cry for any other reason than joy,
I'll kill you."

"Do you understand?"

Talk about "deer in the headlights" look.....
He squeaked out, "Yes."

"Good."
"Now, let's go get some stout to go with the steak."

A few years later,
My Mom told me that he told her about that day and he was worried every since that he might ever upset her.
Seems that She had told him previously a little bit about my Military experiences.....

To the best of my knowledge, he never made her cry....

One of the reasons that I cut short my Mountain adventure is that Michael, my Landlord, is away in Florida this weekend,
Seems like I heard of a tour of the Dry Tortugas,
Anyway,
I just checked and the girl's food bowls were empty.

When I went upstairs,
Alice was instantly all around my feet,
As I "talked" to her.

I filled the bowls and spied our Friend, Olive,
The "Runner."

She came out of hiding to my voice, but still kept her distance.
A voice heard, reassuring of food, acceptance, safety, Love and acknowledgement.

Reminds me of the Church message that I heard this morning on my wind-up radio,
During my first cup of campfire coffee.
I didn't hear which Book, Chapter or Verse, about how the flock will recognize the Shepard's voice and follow.....

Anyway,
No Politics, no Religion....
I understand the rules.....

I then refilled the water dish with fresh water and bid them both adieu....

Hope all have a Great Week!

Best,

Scott

PS.

In case I haven't mentioned it, Michael is a Member of Treasurenet.

What's his Avatar name, you ask?

"I'm sorry, Spanky, some things just can't be told....."

How 'bout some more REO Speed Demon?

I've seen them numerous times in Concert, know all the words and can play several songs on guitar.....

Here ya go Pat-

For the love of cat (hey, that rhymes!)

[h=2]Crazy Ol' Cat Lady[/h]I know folks think I'm quite eccentric
With all these cats I've got
They're inside - outside - everywhere!
I have to admit - there's alot!

So they call me 'Crazy Ol' Cat Lady'
And who can say what else?
But I don't mind - I really don't
I live very well with myself

It wasn't me who moved away
Or dumped my cat to die
Who never heard those cries of hunger
Or saw those frightened eyes

I'm the one who took them in
When they were all alone
Crazy person that I am
I gave them all a home!

As a matter of fact,

Here's a couple of pics from a concert.
Don't remember which one,
But they were ALL GREAT!

Yeah,
I'm either "bootlegging" a camera or tape player.
Or BOTH!
Legalities?
See ya in court....

It was probably during that Fabulous Summer, with Carol, when I did remodeling at a Promoter's property.

I always found my way towards the stage.....

Sorry,

Just going through pictures this evening,
Looking for memories.....

My Best,

Scott

Having looked through some pictures,
I'll add a few more.

This is my gift to my Mom on a Mother's day;
The First quilt I ever made....

With my Grandmother helping to hold it.....

And, my Niece, held by my Sister.
A bit older, but still impressionable.
"Listen to Uncle Scott about School, Child......"

Now then,
How 'bout if I tell you about Jack?

Jack was a little fellow I somehow got when I still had Otis.

Otis took to Jack,
And Jack took to Otis.

Soon, they were inseparable.

Otis was the older mentor who let Jack play.
Otis was as much amused at Jack's antics as Scott was.

Here's
"Jack in the Box."

IMG_1382.webp
Or was this Otis?
Seems that Cats have an affinity towards boxes and such....

Jack was always my buddy when I was talking to myself,
Looking up stuff.....

I Sure miss my Jack.....

IMG_1380.webp

Otis?

That Cat is bored.
Wants no more to do with "Cuteness" and pictures.

Wants outside.

Will be pouting until noticed.....

IMG_1379.webp

Sorry.....

Memories....

Best,

Scott

Word is that Scott's a sucker for lost critters....

Yes.

I was in charge of all arrangements, including the final gravestone.....

Best,

Scott

And for about the first year after her death,
I would walk from my house, every other day to her grave, about 3 miles, at midnight and weep.....

Of yet, still unrecognized
By Congress, as the"Cold War.".....

My Veteran opportunities shrink before my eyes....

The Scandal in Arizona with the VA....

Folks,

I just want to help our Heroes.

That's all.....

My Passion.

A Proud Vet of the "Cold War."

I'll surely make it through this.....
I have the strength....

Now that my academic worries are over....(really?)

I thought it may be just the right time to volunteer for a
"Habitat For Humanity" type project for Veterans.

Does anyone have suggestions for a National Organization with local affiliations nationwide?

I don't really wanna get all up in those outfits on TV;
I like the "Local Feel."

My Skills are comprehensive and all inclusive...
I can draw-up and follow prints, drive any machinery,
pour cement foundations, framing, anything, including plumbing and electrical by code.

Thanks!

Look, Sweetheart,
I've been married three times.
I've been lied to, put in jail and shot. Several times. Each.
You got something new?

No?

I didn't think so.

Look, if you come up with a new way to make ramen taste half-good,

Call me, Kid....

Otherwise.....

Best,

Scott

Just Good Fun my Friend, no offenses....
Merely Scott's imaginations of humor.
Have you heard of Gary Larson?
