CRISPINS CRITTERS

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Master key in use...

Very interesting video.

That's one way it is done.
Perhaps on a battlefield...

But I think that I'd need some kind of "Special" license to carry det cord around and any type of explosive material.
Therefore,

I've learned the art of "manipulation."

Perhaps you've heard the story?

It started when I was about 8 years old and learned how to pick my older Sister's diary.....

Still,
I like your way.

However,
Might be hard to explain to a customer that they also need to replace whatever the lock was attached to.....

My Best,

Scott

My friends,

I apologize for my absence and hope that I find all of you in the best of spirits. Life has dealt me an extraordinary amount of punishment as of late. Nothing to pray for but something that will be settled in the not too distant future. Rest assured, GIB and I have come up with a new blackjack plan to get rich at the casino. When it bears fruit we can all retire early. Anybody got 100k I can borrow?

Control your emotions or somebody else will...God bless,
Crispin

Crispin,

Here you go buddy.....

Been a long time since I asked for a request...DJ's...if you will. "The Man" by Aloe Blacc, dedicated to GIB. Everybody please listen to the whole thing...quite moving to the spirit...even coming from a 21st century digital boy...come to think of it. Second request to Backbacon, 21st century digital boy by Bad Religion.

Scott,

Maybe it's not the squirrels going after your tomato plants....might be cutworms.....we plant them with a newspaper collar about 4" wide wrapped several times around the stem before planting to protect the stems and we haven't had any problems even with a lot of squirrels in our area.

Regards + HH

Bill

As I was noticing the lawn in need of cutting,
I noticed that my tomato plants (3), after having done well for a week or so, now are limp and possibly dying.

I think I know why.
And it's indirectly my fault.....

I have about 5-6 little "ground squirrels" who call my front door patio area "Home."

My fault is that I've been buying sunflower seeds and placing them out, a little bit at a time, for the last couple of years.

I think they finally burrowed under the bed where I planted my tomatoes and have chewed the roots.

I want to keep them coming around, but I don't want them chewing roots.

Any suggestions?

Best,

Scott

CRISPIN LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow....listen to Morgan Freeman recite that and if it doesn't strengthen you from whatever hardship that binds you I resign as a doctor on the spot.

My friend,

To live a life of freedom, one without insight and empathy, one without duty to serve my fellow man. It would be a wish and a curse. I chose my path and serve it willingly. Like Morgan Freeman I have that poem memorized as well as many others. Here is another I turn to when I need strength. My grandfather, a giant among men, a lamb among wolves, a lover of humanity, a poet in his own rite would quote this to me at my bedside.

Rudyard Kipling
If

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Reminds me of this,
(The benefits of a "Classical" education....)

[h=1]O Captain! My Captain![/h] [h=1]O Captain! My Captain![/h]

By Walt Whitman 1819–1892 Walt Whitman O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here Captain! dear father!
The arm beneath your head!
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
But I with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.

Welcome back to the "Herd," Friend. It's been too long!

Here,
This is for you!

Stout OK?

Where is WorldTalker? I desperately seek his wisdom. "Control your emotions or somebody else will." The nation may one day know of your wisdom.

Crispin,

Here's the request for backbacon....bad religion....

keep your heart strong, true and fearless and all evil will bow down

Say, can you count cards?
We're talking a finite number,
Which helps to cement the odds.
52 cards in a deck.
How many shoes?

I used to count easily 3-4 shoes.

(obscure?)

My VERY LAST class, for my Degree, will be "Statistics."

I got this....

I've ALWAYS won when I've been in a casino.
Both times.....
(Well, except for the time I got married......)

I did particularly well when playing face-to-face poker with other people.
I will NOT play "video" poker.

All in the turn of a friendly card....
(and "profiling" and "reading" opponents....)

Best,

Scott

Hardship,
A word that means different things to different people. Faith, a word that means everything to those who understand it. I pass tonight in quiet fashion. Thank you to my friends I have seen online. Thank you to my friends that I have missed. I am always with you...and never far away. Let us each choose to learn and survive in our own ways.
BC: Keep the faith, keep studying, faith is your freedom.
WT: One day your words will resonate throughout the nation.
BfromL: thank you.
TH: miss you my friend.

Good evening to all and to all a good night,
Crispin

it does my heart good to see you checking in Crispin. Try to keep your heart light and 'come visit a fat old man sometime' ( guess the movie)

ON another topic, I just got back from the Mecum classic car auction in Indy. How do so many people have so much money to spend on toys?
