Crusaderdad - Lone Hunt - SILVER day!

[CRUSADER]

Crusaderdad had a few hours lone hunt. Instead of carrying on where I left off in the Dump Field 2, he tried one of the other planted bean fields nearby.
The field was the one we had covered the bottom of & included the nice Galba Roman Silver I found (old banner find). Its a massive field of which we have only searched 1/3 of its area.

He found a hat/hair/cloth pinhead - can't decide if its medieval or Victorian??

3 SILVER COINS! (got to be a good day when all the coins are silver )

1888 Six Pence
1570s Elizabeth I Halfgroat (another hammered to the total, & end of year as well)
A First - Portuguese coin 1861

Nearly true, he got it from me. I detected for nearly 10 years before he got interested. Its funny because I always have a steady stream of good stuff & normally find 70% of the days finds. But every now & then he sneaks out a top find which makes up for all the average things he get.

This hunt was good as its a big field & he was random hunting or following your nose as I call it. Very hard to hit stuff doing this. The hammered was sitting on the top of a clump of mud. So he saw it when he looked down.

Yes, its a massive broken off pin head as mention in the description. Date unknown but could be as old a 14th century.
