Is it possible to date arrowheads? I found these on a piece of property my uncle owns. Over the years he has found TONS. I went and found these in one day. Can you possibly date these and if possible tell me what kind the are and what they went on. They were found in the upstate of South Carolina. If you need better pics or measurements please let me know! Thanks!

You made need better pics of the bigger one, you can barely see the serrated edge.

Looks to be early archaic I'm no expert my guess is around 3 to 4000 but I'm sure someone will have a better answer nice pieces

Better pics will help ;)

U could also try overstreetID.com

The broken stemmed piece looks like a Morrow Mountain type made of rayholite...7,000- 5,000 BP.(before present) ..the other two look like knives made of quartz.

I'm no expert either, but I believe the piece in the middle may be a Guilford round base, 6500-5000 bp, or maybe a knife like Gator mentioned. The broken one on the right may be a Morrow mt, 7000-5000 bp. I believe the early archaic time period would be 10,000- 8000 years ago. Middle archaic would be 8000-5000 years ago, and late archaic is 5000-3000 years ago, approximately.

What would a morrow mountain be used for? It's a lot bigger than all of my other arrowheads. I just wish the plow hadn't of found it before I did.

Oh and thanks guys! Ill get better pics up soon!

All 3 could be from the same time frame. Most of the quartz artifacts I find are Morrow Mountain period.

Likely a projectile point used with an atlatl...or even a hafted blade.

Morrow mtn was a knife. It was like one you would carry every day. It was also a killing tool as multiple ones have been found embedded in skeletons. It is an interesting piece. My best morrow mtn is also quartz.

Maybe I'm confused the biggest one is the morrow mtn one correct?
