The coppers keep coming!
And the silver keeps hiding... :dontknow:
Most of the coppers from the last three days have come from
a lovely 40' x 60' or so well-mown lawn, right by the creek
that once turned the mill wheel. I was certainly cherry-picking
the first day that I dug this site, but the last two days I've been
digging everything that is non-surface and non-ferrous, and the
low-conductor buttons and other relics are few and far between.
The coppers are close enough together to call the area a hot spot,
but not so close that one could think that they were part of a cache.
My hunting buddy and I really pounded the hot spot today hoping to
find that bit of silver that is almost certainly hiding within, but to no avail.
Tomorrow is our last day at the site for while, but inclement weather
may deter us. Either way, hope to have a good site totals post sometime
soon once the finds are a little cleaner.

OMG... :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: Your absolutely slaying coppers at that place man, keep up the great work and pull a silver just for good measure. Cool button too!

Holy buckets bonanza! :laughing7: This site should be on the "Best of Treasurenet." :headbang: That is my kind of hunting grounds. Thank you so much for posting on Tnet, my friend. I always enjoy a Colonial bonanza post. :laughing9: :notworthy:

Keep the passion high!

Kirk :hello:

That's incredible!!! Come on SILVER!!! :headbang:

That is an awesome site, I guess there were a lot of coppers being traded back and forth, surprising not to see any silver, but with that many targets there's still a chance!

wow what a site!

might have been where the old lady washed the clothes, hence the quanity of coins and buttons...congrats...

Wow! You have to think about the poor person that lost them. I would think that would be a months pay. It might be part of a much larger cashe hidden nearby. Makes you wonder. Thanks for the great posts. HH

Looks like a lot of money changed hands at this mill. You may be finding coins that slipped through cracks in the floorboards of the old mill. The silver to copper ratio and the coins to buttons ratio are both a little odd though. But as long as you're finding 9 or 10 coppers every time out, there is nothing to complain about :laughing7:

dwayne man your on fire , there has to be silver but where are the buttons :icon_scratch: usually 6:1 at those unsearched mill sites. check it out , pic of first day in ...... mill buttons . Steve PA said it , odd :dontknow: still coins are better digs :laughing7: just an observation . Get some more  dawg

i know what you mean, dawg.
here's the results of an earlier "normal" colonial site i hit in upstate ny, buttons and all.
g.w. button in there, too.
i'm telling ya, this mill site was a place of commerce.
no pewter spoon handles, no 6:1 button to coin ratio.
mostly just a lot of copper...

:icon_scratch: you must be searching where the cashier was located  I know old mills were commerce centers where goods were exchanged for currency . Not a mill expert but just one who lives near 25 of these old mill places . The buttons eh forget about it . It's all good . Never knew you got a GW your the man 8)

Imagine Dat!!!

Wow, your coppers are reminding me of a friend from NH who with a hunting buddy found like 43 or more coppers in the middle of a field,(think on one hunt, perhaps two) that they think was a stage stop long ago, since it was where an old colonial road used to be. They may have found more, but just like your millsite, the coppers were only steps or so from each other in spots. Must be a nice feeling to get that many 3 hunts in a row. Cannot wait to see your final post with them cleaned as good as you can get them.

Don

Keep em comin ;D
