Hey guys,

Got out last weekend to work the new permissions- the first site yield an artillery CORPS button last week so I was optimistic that the DEUS might weasel out another from the heavy iron. As many have said, listen for the elusive whisper...that squeak between the iron that 9 times out of 10 is a small nail...but every now and then is something killer. The first 2 whispers were deep targets, both 8-10 inches and no VDI number. They were also my best digs of the weekend- 1808-1821 Light Artillery and a domed 1 piece 1821 Artillery Eagle (first of this era that I've dug).

I've become addicted to these early military buttons and with the Light Artillery, I am a bit closer to my goal of digging a War of 1812 era button from each respective military component. The third dig was a bit easier to pick out, but quite small compared to the other jaw harps I've seen here.

Also managed a few buckles, flat buttons, and decorative brass...maybe furniture pieces?

On Sunday I switched it up a bit with Stef and hit a low tide coastal site that had produced in the past. While I didn't find much colonial period items, someone had clearly hosted an amazing party back in the 20s lol. The site was littered with turn of the century bottles and a few telling relics. Among the digs a Hudson Radiator cap, flappers purse, and 1914 patent straight razor cover.

The big surprise and oldest of the weekend's was a killer surface find...literally :laughing7: intact megalodon tooth, and 2 smaller fossilized shark teeth.

As always thanks for looking!

Those 2 artillery buttons are nice. I especially like the Light Artillery. Id love to dig one of those. Those sharks teeth are cool too. Always wanted to find some of those. KUTGW! Ive dug a Artillery and a few Dragoons domed 1 piece buttons similar to your 1821, but always wanted to dig one of the 1812 era script buttons like you have. Killer!!

Thanks bud, the War of 1812 build up prior to the British invasion here in Charleston made logical sense...after all the British landed here during the Revolution, however the invasion never came. Makes for good relic hunting though :laughing7:

Very nice assortment of finds, and that script LA button is awesome!

what about that spur? You know the one I walked right past! Great buttons! You really killed it!

That is a pile of stuff. But I'm partial to that Light Artillery. I have dug 5 or 6 of those 1820s convex Eagle A buttons and none of them have sharp details.

Excellent and fun assortment of finds. Nice pair of buttons! The fossil shark teeth add a certain crazy wow factor. What is the flapper purse skeleton made of?

The LA was certainly my best dig, curious that your convey A had the same issues. You can just barely make it out-only revealed itself after cleaning

Hey ZK, the purse is made of brass- hinges still work but the beaded fabric is long gone. Dug a bit of a trench in the mud hoping to pull a bit of silver...no luck lol

Loveee the buttons, amazing finds!

Beautiful Light Artillarists button. A pretty rare button there. I don't own the button bible but I have a pretty good idea you found a rare mamajama.

Congrats on that and the rest
