Did Google Earth get better?

I happened to notice something on GE.
Things look different than before.

I did get a notification that my phone did an update last night, so maybe this was result of part of it. This is the first that I ever saw GE looking like this. 👍

Probably so. My echo-dot has taken on an almost human intelligence, that I can carry on a conversation with. Makes me think if I ever end up in a old folks home, I'll have a device to make up cool stories to tell me as I sit in my rocker.

There seems to have been some recent changes to Google Earth, but on my laptop screen image resolution is better if I use the history slider to go back ten years, and surface colors are shown more accurately.

Yep, the older aerial photography from 2014-2019 in most areas that was captured by plane gives the best resolution by far. I dont trust much on GE unless you can see it across most years, excluding the recent years with satellite imagery which is crap in the range, sadly.

One of the interesting things i haven't been in to verify with boots on the ground is what i believe to be a mountain lion den on horse mesa. Across the years you can see no trails, then a faint trail to a singular location appears, then many trails fanning out from the one location appear the next year and subsequent years. Lots of trails all leading back to what looks like a den.
