Dime Averages?

Hey, so I have only been keeping track of how much I go through/find for about 2 weeks, but these are my records:

$250 - 3(2 pre 1967, 1 USA)
$250 - 5(3 pre 1967, 2 1968)
$250 - 1(pre 1967)
$460 - 0
$250 - 1 (pre 1967)
$250 - 1(pre 1967)
$250 - 0
$100 - 1 USA
$250 - 1 (pre 1967)
$250 - 5 (3pre 1967, 2 1967)
$205 - 0
$250 - 3 (2 pre 1967, 1 1968)
$100 - 1 (pre 1967)

So, so far my average is about 1 silver in every $142 of dimes, or about 1.76 per box.
How do they compare to yours? I wonder if there's more silvers here in Canada or less.... Let me know! HH

I think that is a really good average.

Last year I averaged 1 dime per $183. Currently this year I am at 1 dime per $287. All it takes is a couple good boxes to drop your average.

Mad props to anyone who can search all Canadian for silver. I guess we have it easy in the US.....I couldn't even imagine searching coins that all looked exactly the same. Wait a minute......yes I can. I break out the nickels when I'm really up for a challenge.

My silver dime average is one per $125 searched, and I average one Mercury out of every ten silver dimes.

I do bags of them and I think that I average 3 for every $500 bag. Some are bad but it is hard to find a skunker.

7-10 bags a week.

Box 10 - 1 rosie and 1 1949 silver Canadian dime.
Box 11 - 3 rosies and 1 merc (my first one from a roll)
Box 12 - 1 rosie and 1 1944 silver Canadian dime
Box 13 - skunk, but I got my first clipped planchet
Box 14- skunk
Box 15 - 1 rosie, a 1997 Aruba dime and a 1994bermuda dime.
Box 16 - Skunk
Box 17 - 1 rosie

Of $8350 in customer rolled dimes searched this year, my averages are:

79 silvers total, 1 per $105

Roosevelts - 64, or 1 per $130
Mercs - 5, or 1 per $1670
Canadian - 10, or 1 per $835

That's no skunk. If it's a nice one, it's probably worth more than a silver dime.

What is the oldest pre 1967 you got out of those rolls? I love Canadian coins. Im presently working on my collection of key date Canadian halves

I don't keep running totals, but I recently had a run of finding 1 per $100.

Feeling cocky and sure of the hoards of silver I would find, I bought $650 in dimes, and they were total skunks.

My mercury/roosevelt ratio is currently 1:27
I have also gotten a .999 fine silver round, (not included in the above calculation)

My average for 2007-2011 is one silver dime per 1543 searched (912 US silver dimes in 1,407,252 dimes searched - also found ~20 Canadian silver dimes). I think you're doing pretty good so far.

Average went up quite a bit last night, got $50 from the local bank and thought they were skunks until I opened 3 rolls near the end, each had 8-10 silver dimes last night total was 28 silver dimes put of $100 in cwr's.

The oldest dime Canadian dime I have so far is 1939, and pretty much every year up to 1968. I also have a 1944 silver Canadian half and a 1965.

for canadian dimes can you just throw them across a magnet and check the ones that don't stick?

Silver dimes are pretty scarce here. Currently averaging 1 silver dime per $900 searched.

Iv thought of that before, but I find it easiest just to quickly spread them flat on a surface and see which ones are not so reflective, and have a whitish colour.. Then I just toss em into a big fabric bag which I take to the bank. I find this the fastest method, only takes me 16 minutes to go through a box.
