Do you spend or keep your wheaties?

Question for the detector gods....

Im in a place where i'm picking up lots of Wheat pennies. Earliest is 1935 and the latest is 1950.
I haven't found any silver before 1964, just the pennies.

Do you guys keep all your Wheaties? Is there a year cut off thats best to spend?

What's in your coin jar?

I save all my Wheaties. All the guys at work know I collect coins
and that I will buy any change they have. There are those people
everywhere that just keep putting the change in a jar or can and
then when it is full would rather have the bills. Instead of using 2
quarters for the coffee machine they will use a bill and put the
change in the jar. Well they bring the jar to me. Just last week I
found a 1909 VDB penny in a bag of change that I bought from
one of the guys at face value for $87.00 also there was 2 Rosie's
a '56 and a '58, and a '43 P nickel. My best find this way was
an EF '36 double die found in a bucket of pennies that cost me
$215.00 face value. Took me months to finish looking at everyone
of them but it was worth it.

I keep them. my oldest is a 1917.

I keep them to give away to people (caretakers, property owners) whose permission is needed to hunt a homesite or other private properties. The wheats are corroded and virtually worthless, but they can help create goodwill and a willingness to allow me to hunt. I've also given away a few dateless, corroded buffalo nickels to folks who own or care for properties that look promising for hunting purposes. I've found scores of wheat cents in my area, and I don't value them; all those I've found are common dates and in bad shape from being in the ground for so many years.

I save all my wheats,why? who knows. I honestly have never checked the dates. I smoked cigars for a long time[no more]. I have this huge cigar box,whaped with duck to tape to keep it from falling apart. I honestly can barely lift it,and I work out at the gym 3 times a week. I don,t have any idea of how many thousand I have. LOOOTS. I find them and toss them uncleaned in this box. Mike.

the U.S. Mint has a machine that tests coins for content and kicks out the ones that are pure. So every time a wheatie goes to the mint it doesn't come back, they remelt it to make about 20 new coins, so you do the math. I keep all mine, I figure a pound of wheaties is still worth more than face value
