California Wildlife agencies are saying that a few wolves have entered
California from Oregon, the first in 100 years.
Don't believe it! In 1986 I was around 50 miles south of the northern Cal
border, had spent the day looking at a mining claim and was heading back
to the Sierras. It was 5:00-6:00 pm, I was looking for a place to spend the night.
A large all blackish wolf, over 100 pounds, healthy, dominate looking crossed the large meadow
right in front of me. Never ran, just walked fast diagonally for a long time, like half a minute.
At the time I didn't know there weren't supposed to be any wolves in Cal and I said to myself
" Wow, saw my first wolf".
Absolutely True!
