Re: Don't know where they fit.

Looks like I spelled Mexican wrong which led to the photo being sent twice. Here is the last one.

Re: Don't know where they fit.

Well, in my most humble of opinions, I think that the lil jaguar is a reproduction. The larger jar, from the inside shot, looks like it was made on a potters wheel, which the Indians never used. (they used the coiling method)
Either way, they are cool looking. That said, dont go tryin to sell em for cheap just because I said they may be repro's....I'm no expert on pottery AT ALL.
BTW....I just gotta know....is that lizard poop in the bottem of that big jar? :D

Re: Don't know where they fit.

Afternoon,

Gotta agree with Johnnyreb. I have seen many repros like the Dog and the pot was definately thrown on a wheel. I would say modern reproductions, but pretty as decorative objects in thier own right.

Re: Don't know where they fit.

Jonnyreb, I have a sad story to tell. About ten years ago I came across a prehistoric vase about 18 inches high. It was roped inside and it was colored black or dark gray. But the bottom did not have ash and had a lot of orange clay (mostly china) showing. And no stand marks. It just did not seem right. So I passed it up! When I decided that it did in fact look very prehistoric, I went back the next day and it was gone!

Not Artifacts, but still beautiful pottery.
Hopefully Matt will make a comment.

You all pretty much covered everything molly. They're real...just not old. He should enjoy them for what they are, modern art.
