It was a slow, relaxing day at my local beach. I'm still getting acquainted with my Dual Field and digging a lot of hairpins and fish hooks. It's definitely a great machine. After no signals in the wet sand for over twenty minutes I finally located a pocket of coins, nails and sinkers. I love those pockets and slowed way down. Three quarters, two dimes and a nickle find their way into the pouch. A nice sleepy day. Then .. another quarter signal but after scooping it up from about 4" deep it was a silvery band. In my hand, from it's heft, I could tell it was Gold! It went into my special gold pocket.
Back to finding quarters. In the same pocket just two feet way a signal not quite a quarter but sounding good. A huge surprise when I scoop it up from three inches deep. It's my first detector found gold chain!
The band is 14K at 9.48 grams ($303 melt) the chain with religious medallion is 14K at 7.42 grams ($237 melt).
I'm very much enjoying my newly acquired Dual Field. It has paid for itself, literally, in less than three weeks! Something like $575 melt value.. just counting the three pieces of gold.
[And a little hint about my next post, hopefully tomorrow, it weighed in at 6.15 grams found today.]
PS: Those are scoop calluses on my hand.
