I went to the cellar hole that has produced a variety of colonial coppers. The land owner had done some digging with his tractor, so I decided to give it a try. I only had 15 minutes, and the first signal came after 5 minutes. It was really muddy, and being in sneakers,I couldn't move much. I found a rock to stand on and swung around it, and that's when I got a solid 11:44 on the etrac. It was obviously a copper, but I had no idea what it was until I got home. It's a 1798 Draped Bust large cent, style 1. Here it is after a little toothpick love. Thanks for looking folks!

That really is a sweet coin...love to see a db from the 1700s, and in such great shape!

Congrats on the DBLC. She looks good after a little toothpicking.

Standing on a rock with your sneakers on because it's muddy? C'mon get your boots on and get your rear end back out there.....:laughing7:...GREAT FIND

Haha no question I'll be going back with boots. I had no intention on stopping there, but I had a few extra minutes before I had to pick my son up from school. Ruined my new kicks, but it was worth it...too bad the wife doesn't think so :)

Thanks man. With all of the colonial coppers and buttons that have come from this site, I'm really surprised that a nice silver or military button hasn't popped up. Maybe on my next hunt lol. Wishful thinking!

Wow!....that is beautiful....Great Find!!!

Draped bust!!! Not that I find many of those, but I like those because you never know right away if your going to be 1700's or 1800's!! Awesome coin!!
