Driftwood found - origins unknown - OBX

After Tropical Storm Arthur, I was walking on the beach in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, and I saw this giant piece of driftwood slowly get pushed up shore. The water was still very rough and the swell was strong, but it took multiple waves to get this thing to budge up the shore. I am trying to figure out the origins of this piece before I restore it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Notes:
The wood weighs approx. 100 lbs
Roughly 5’6” long
There are squared brass nails visible throughout, visible on one side only
Appears to be large nails along the border of the wood, visible on one side only
Seems to have had some worm action on the side with exposed brass nails
Unsure of the type of wood - if someone could identify, that would be appreciated
Appears to be some type of metal attached/melded with the wood on either end of the piece

Just guessing I would say from an old sunken boat.

Beautiful piece of shipwreck wood...congrats !! Soak in fresh water change it often after a few days let it dry good. Saturate with teak oil and display. As it gets dry again re oil it. If it's not to far gone this will preserve it for display.

is it sawn or worn into that shape?

Tough to tell with my lack of experience, but it appears to have been sawn into that shape. The pattern of the nails seem to follow a “curvature” if you will.
