Drinking Goblet and Fish effigy? You make the call!

Found what appears to be a worked fish flint also an intact vassel with all the other pieces around it. Anybody got a I. D. or comment?

I agree! An ID and some general info is probably whats holding this up! Or maybe much more than that!

It looks Woodland to me, but that's only because Mississippian pottery seems more ornate. If you post some more points found on the site, I'm sure we can give it a proper name.

Also, when you support a Banner find you have click the link and say why it's a banner find. I'm sure a lot of people already do that, but many just type Banner!!! (or something to that effect,) and that might not be enough.

Very nice find. :thumbsup:

As stated not easy to find whole pottery vessels or other pottery artifacts.Even here on the coast where items are washed from the banks you look for long spells before finding whole pieces.

When items start getting that size they don't hold up to the beating they take.Don't know much about you guy's native america artifacts out west.Hell is hard enough keeping up with them here.

But I'm gonna push the BANNER button on this one as not much doubt that even there it can't be easy to come across something that old and fragile.Looks to fall under 8-1200AD range looking at other vessels out your way.

PS: If I was you I'd take it outside in some natural light & get a nice clean clear Banner shot of it so it would look nice. :wink:

They also may be looking for a little more of a story with it. :icon_scratch:

How does one vote banner or do you need to be more than a registered user to vote? All I see is Report Post/Nominate... and hitting that doesn't seem to cast a vote.
The pot is definetely worthy of the banner. Maybe it's because of the way the post is titled its not there yet. Drinking Goblet and Fish Effigy? And showing that pooter before the pot? WTF?!! Maybe you meant it to be like showing the wife a broke while hiding a monster point in the other hand but that pot is way too good for that treatment here.

Thanks TimeKiller. This is the first artifact that I have seen here that I thought worthy of going to the trouble to ask. No offense to anyone else but I think a whole pot is rare.
