Found what appears to be a worked fish flint also an intact vassel with all the other pieces around it. Anybody got a I. D. or comment?

What is the tempering on the jar? There's a good possibility that's a Hopewell piece, which would make it exceedingly rare.

I just came back here cuase i got a holler in my email.That pot is priceless! I have some pretty cool finds from years ago from Yokut tribes in this area.I would have been dancin in a pig troff if i found that!

The last message mentioned the Yokut tribe. I was looking for more information online as I'm interested in relic hunting in Missouri and the only Yokut tribe I could find was in California. Is that where this pot was found?

I can't agree, it may not be Mississippian. There's really no such thing as a classic Mississippian pot...well, not so far as ceramics are concerned. It could be classic Matthews, Rhodes, Fortune, Barton, Parkin, Wallace, Kent design or classic Bell or Neely's Ferry paste used to make it, but not classic Mississippian (that denotes more of a culture or location). There's a possibility that his vessel could be from the Woodland time period, maybe Black Sands or even Hopewell.

Maybe if you could tell us the general area where this goblet was found, we could
help ID it a little better. In the area I live in, it is very likely that if you
find a complete pot or ceramic item in such good condition, you have
usually found a grave site. Not always, but usually, at least in my area.
That being said, provienience is absolutely a must. Please thoroughly record the location coordinates, depth, other artifacts in that spot, and any details pertaining to your finds for future reference.
If any human bones are found at the site, you may be digging in one of our
ancestors graves. If so, please consult a local archeologist / authorities and inform
them of the site, so that it can be protected from looters.
Federal and state laws do protect pre-historic grave sites, but those
found by accident will not cause charges to be held against you.

OMG, you are right. Take it off the banner and ban someone for posting an awesome relic with a pressure crack! And all that patina, and cool in situ pictures are obscene.
