Hello All,

Went detecting with my wife, Diggergirl and got out to a spot I've had some decent luck with before. She found a silver spoon handle piece, 1907 Indian Head, strange small bullet, and lots of keyhole covers from smokehouse locks. I got 2 .69 cal round balls, porcelain marble, some whatzits and a perfect Civil War Confederate Louisiana cuff button. when I first dug it, I thought it was a jeans button, but as soon as I rubbed it I knew what I had. The one of these I found earlier in the year was not in good shape. Here are a couple of pix from the field. Sorry there's no video. I ran out of steam. :sadsmiley:

I did am wondering what this bullet is that she dug. Any help is greatly appreciated. Have not seen one of these before. Is this a CW bullet of some sort?

I'm wondering if this is a pewter canteen spout. Any ideas?

that is very nice!congrats

Buck, thank you for the kind words about my finds. That being said, wouldn't I love to dig ANYTHING with a Pelican on it man!! I have only found ONE CS button in my life, an AVC. I don't think there's any DOUBT about your canteen spout. here's a confirmed one I dug last year. Sure looks like yours . . .

I agree with canteen spout BB. You & DG had a great hunt. The Pelican cleaned up really nice. Isn't that your 2nd pelican cuff in LA? Good article in May W & E treasures and Diggergirl looks beautiful on the cover. WTG,. Q.

Great finds Buckle, that Confederate Louisiana Cuff is a real nice one for sure, CONGRATS

Thanks so much, friend!

Cheers,

Buck

NIce one indeed.
What I like most is the site picture, greenery ! WOW ! It is amazing what a difference there is in 15 lines of LAT.

I remember years when we couldn't even start digging much in Virginia until late march/april. But it has been warm here for a month, so things are growing. The pollen is back, the mosquitoes are thirsty :( Snakes are out, and gators too. I wish it would just all slow down for longer during the "cold" months so we could recover just a little more before it all starts growing back...

Cute little pelican - WTG Buck!!

Another jewel in the cane bandits crown LOL. I'll take 'em all day when they look that nice! Congrats on your fantastic recoveries this year my friend. Has been a banner year for both of us so far.

I'm sold on the ID. Thanks so much for posting a photo, parson! That AVC is a rarer button to dig than any of these pelicans are. I think I'd soil my pants if I dug one!

She made it! That's awesome! Second pelican cuff for a total of 4 coat and 2 cuff buttons for me alone. DG has also dug a coat button. I think we're making up for our shoddy military button totals from last year LOL.

Awesome button man & other nice finds as well!

nice going on that cuff!, real nice shape, nice group of finds for you and the wife!

Beautiful button!
I agree with the canteen spout. They often have initials scratched into them; be sure to look carefully.
I think the bullet may be a Burnside/Confederate. Looks very similar to ones I've seen.

WTG you two.Congrats to the Missus on the mag cover too. How much longer do you figure you have to dig now that the cane is growing? Hope you have some more amazing finds before you're forced to stop.

Nice finds BB & DG!!! Love the cuff...........she's a beauty!! I also agree on the pewter canteen spout.

We normally dig year-round. Even in the 110 heat index, there is always a muddy field that is waiting to be planted with new cane in July.

Sweet button, tried sending u a pm wouldn't let me? Video camera is a cannon fs200, takes great video but picture quality is not so good. HH coop
