Equinox 800

Smokey I have a hard believing the Equinox couldn't find small to mid range targets. I know you have an awesome relic detector in the XP but the Equinox does not miss copper even at 12". I have dug lead sinkers and split shot. I would be willing to guess your buddies with the Equinox are still in the learning curve. Heck I have found earbud wires at 4". In heads up comparisons the XP is a better relic detector but not by much. Actually there isn't much difference in any detector over $500. Each has their niche and perform better in one area than other detectors.

I am not knocking your post it's hard for me to believe even with a small coil you find 60 targets and they find none or a few.

Normsel, I dug side by side with three different people now each with 800's. The one digger is very, very good and in a bad spot with few items he only missed a couple items. The other two guys, I couldn't figure out what they were doing. The Nox should have gotten the targets. Maybe they were looking for silver and large coppers only I have seen that happen. You are right about not much difference between machines after you get to the $500 mark. The Nox is a GOOD MACHINE overall.

Maybe it comes down to the operator. It also could be when I found a good spot I stayed there and didn't wander all over creation looking for the pot of gold.

And in the last two cases, I don't think the machine mattered, but it happened as I said it did. I did notice they didn't stay real close to me after the first hour or so. They wandered off and probably there just weren't as many targets where they went. Wandering through a big field is good....sometimes.
