Today I found this penny near some picnic tables at a local park, and on my way back to my house to detect elsewhere I wanted to post it to see what you guys think.

I'm not sure if it may be an error of some type,so I figured maybe someone here could shed some light on it.

The first pic shows the face of the coin, words are really hard to read(liberty,in god we trust, and the date) to me it looks like the date is 19?? but its all blob/blurred pretty much same w/ the word liberty,it seems the edge all the way round is folded over

The second pic shows the reverse it is a bit more legible but clearly shows that the edge is folded over.At the bottom you can see the words ONE CENT shows through the folded over edge and the same goes for the united states of America at the top.

Third pic shows a side view of the penny which has a rounded edge (*unlike the flat surface on the side of a regular penny*)also when I did a drop test on the table it doesn't have a ring type sound of regular pennies usually do,this penny has a lot more of a dull sorta tone

When I was swinging the MD in the area where I found it, wasn't really registering a definitive tone(pretty much all over my read out pulltab,penny,s-cap,nickle)and never locked on.When the detector finds a penny it always locks on the 1cent on the read out without fail, was right on top of the ground in a grassy patch.

Thanks to everyone for looking
~Shawn~

Looks over cleaned to me.

looks like it was on it's way to becoming a coin ring.

I'm with Rob66. This coin looks like someone had started to make a coin ring.
I've never done it, but my dad told me they used to take silver half dollars,
and using a spoon, tapped on the edges until it was flattened out, drill out the
center, and wha la... they had a siver ring. I've seen these that look nice and
shiny on the outside of the ring, but the inside still had coin features. It looked
pretty cool.
