I decided it was too hot not to go out and try to relax today. So back to ye old beach. My very first find was the swordfish. One of my favorites today actually. Tried to find a new target rich environment and that turned into a disaster. I even KNOW BETTER than to do what I did. However, I did it anyway!

I was sticking my coil down into the weeds and I get a mid tone. Clean out the weeds and dig a buffalo. I clear some more weeds and get a high tone. That gets me another walker. My 10th one for the year and my 9th out of this spot. I have less than 250lbs of air left. So what do I do? I go to the surface and THINK I can figure out where I am. I usually leave my dive float at a spot and get a new tank and go back to the float. But NOOO. I decide I can find the spot again. LOL no such luck! Got a new tank and went back in. Can't find anything I remembered. Well at least I know I will find it again one day. Hopefully there is a lot more in that area.

So my only silver coins are the 1940 walker, a Washington and a war nickel. One silver ring, a silver bracelet and a silver ball pendant. 6 wheat's oldest is 1927.

It was a nice refreshing day in the river. Thanks for reading. Enjoy the pictures as usual.

Swim suit buckles. Before draw strings they used rubber belts with brass buckles. These are the ones that they lost in the water.

Wow, I guess with all the extra cloth they wore to go swimming back then, they must've needed more attachments to keep it all in place. You must have a hefty brass pile!

I am saving all the buckles and snaps separately. At the end of the year I will know how many I have taken from this spot alone. So far even I am impressed.

Blown away by the magnitude of how cool that location is for treasure hunting. You are one lucky and skilled dude!

Way to go Scooby! I really like the swordfish pin, looks a bit nostalgic. Best of luck, I am trying to keep up with your ring count but it is dang hard to do in the 100 degree heat on land! Sub 8-)

You need to find a lake!! I don't know of anyone that can find as many gold on land as people find in the water. Also the lakes are COOL!! No heat worries.

Nice research and it sure is paying off! I do a lot of waist deep hunting and I can say only a few times I have been able to walk right back to the spot, or even find it again.

That sea weed gets us also but it dies off come jan..it really can make a difference in the finds once it is gone...

DONT KNOW WHAT RULES THEY HAVE IN YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS - ABOUT TOUCHING/DISTURBING THE WEEDS OR BOTTOM
A GUY UP HERE USES A SHARP HAND SICKLE TO CUT DOWN THE WEEDS/MILFOIL AND THEN HUNTS AN AREA - DONT KNOW IF YOU'D WANT TO BOTHER IN YOUR SPOT - IF NO ONE CARES - EVER THINK OF MAKING A "MAIL BOX" FOR SMALL OUT BOARD MOTOR AND BLOWING OUT A FEW SPOTS
WONDER - DEPENDING ON THE DEPTH YOURE IN- IF YOU HAD SOMEONE JUST GO THRU AND GUN IT IN A FEW SPOTS TO CREATE A FEW BLOW OUTS
LAST YEAR AT AN OLD SALTWATER SPOT - SOME ONE - I THINK FISHING - WAS IN CLOSE AND GUN THEWIR MOTOR IN LIKE 5 FEET OF WATER AT LOW TIDE AND PRODUCED A SMALL BLOW OUT - WHEN I GOT IN - I COULD SEE OLD BOTTLES STICKING OUT THAT WERE NEVER THERE BEFORE AND ROCKS WHERE I NEVER SAW BEFORE - IT WAS NOT A BIG SPOT - BUT DID GET A FEW SILVER HALFS AND FEW OLDER GOLD ALONG WITH SOME OTHER GOODIES FROM THAT SPOT - WISH I COULD HAVE THEM DO SOME MORE THERE ---JUST AN IDEA

That is definitely a (rather crude) depiction of a SAILfish, not a swordfish.

Both are billfish, however.

And I freaking love it!

Casper, the weeds are an invasive species, They come out of the muck easy. Although TIRING. They get real heavy piling them up. However, in doing it the current is taking the muck away slowly. Every time I go out there I stir it up also to help it go down river. I have been making rows of them. My work is paying off because now there is gravel showing in a few spots. The spot I found most the SLQ's is a good example.

What I am really going to be excited to find is where the slide ends were. I am betting on finding a huge pile of silver and gold. I am in 7 - 8' of water now out deeper the muck is over a foot deep. However, I know that has to move also. One of my friends found a Go-Pro last week. I am going to see if I can borrow it while he is wading to get a picture of the area and what I am up against. Thanks for the suggestions.

I want to go to an inland lake and get one of their weed harvesters and take it through there. They are paddle boats with wide conveyor belts that go deep into the water and cut the weeds and bring them up into a huge mesh bin and then take them to shore where they are disposed of. I sure could have a blast using one of them for a few weeks in that spot!!

LOL what do I know. Never saw one! Sailfish, Swordfish, Tuna fish, can't find them in fresh water so I couldn't tell one from another. Thanks for the clarification and your input!

I have always wondered why you would have to tune a fish though? Do they sing off key?

Don't get spoiled, I'll come out and help ya find it!
Nice finds, I was like, wth wheres the swardfish!

I wish you happiness and great finds Ice. We have our different opinions and I sure didn't mean to upset anyone. I also never meant to bring drama here. I don't believe I lack any respect. I do know I make mistakes. Peace.

Scuba, sorry to be a witness to the scorn of another who seems fit to become a new T-net member only to berate you for sharing your stunning finds and sites...while this member has a right to share his opinions openly, I see it in bad taste to display them here...not the time nor the place...keep on keepin on my friend, we all on here thoroughly enjoy your in-depth posts and look forward to each and every one..and I'm sure I speak for most, if not all of us...sincerely...ddf

Thanks for the replies all. I finally found some more gold out there yesterday. There were 7 detectorists out there playing. Only two divers. my friend Kevin got gold also. However, even though gold is fun to find and is worth the most, finding anything that has been lost for ages is a blast also. Some here want gold, some want silver, others relics. I enjoy it all. Like the lead boat I found yesterday. They don't make toys like that anymore.

Enjoy your hunts where ever you play. You only have one life to live. Enjoy it the way YOU want to, not how others feel you need to. IF a friend feels you made a mistake the FRIEND should tell you in person, not criticize you in front of everyone.

I live by this rule. Always be yourself. The people that matter don't mind, and the people that mind don't matter. Sure I make mistakes I regret. However, telling me in person and not telling the world goes a long way.

Peace and have fun where ever you detect.
