FBI Video Exposes Civil War Gold Cover-Up Josh Gates Investigates | Expedition Files

Wouldn’t the actual truth be SO interesting (regardless of your position)? We are not going to ever watch that (despite many of us thinking we were doing that here), so why not just agree this will be a great continuation and contribution to the legend that will now carry on for maybe several hundred years? Perhaps the dig site will get dug up in the future for a forensic reality TV show. Has to be a trace of gold in the water table after being buried that long!!
I don't know about that. The bars found were painted with black tar.

It should be noted Jacks gold bars were painted with black tar. He found the first one sticking up out of the dirt after kicking it while walking. The area has only a few inches to top soil then rock. A lot of ironstone in the area. Screws with those deep seeking units. That is what screws up Dennis Prada. I don't believe for a minute there was gold in that hole. There is a lot to that story also. Jack was a friend and we talked often about what Dennis was up to. Jack was worried that Dennis would find the rest of the missing bars. All I know is what Jack found. In Arizona I had to move on to silver bars and gold nuggetsView attachment 2228744
He looks like a strapping guy but I don’t know a gold bar that size would be held so easily. I could be wrong though.

Two gold bars were found in this map area by Jack Schall.
This is a bold claim to make Sarge, especially since Jack has since passed and seems to have never publicly divulged finding any gold before passing. Care to lend any evidence to prove this or do we just take your word for it?

Did you see the recovery of these bars? Did you hold or even see the bars? Are you sure Jack found gold bars?

Why would someone paint gold bars with black tar? Precious metal ingots are pretty obvious regardless of the color. Pick one bar of gold up and it would be obvious based on the weight. Robbers certainly would not be fooled. Sounds like stuff of movies, fantastic news articles or a treasure story. A knife could immediately be used to scrape any coating off.

I hate to say this, but there was a planned dissemination of false information that was posted here for several months. The end result was an admission of deception and the parting message before the temporary suspension of the account was THAT’S THE WAY THE GAME IS PLAYED. I’m not sure how many that are participating in this thread remember this. The thread was nuked as others were. I personally felt I was slighted as I’ve always been honest here and always assumed everyone else here was honest about what they willingly shared about FINDS. I’ll keep bringing this up and will take any consequences.
Hard to respect folks using our interaction as a deception tactic. Then to have the TN site continue to defend the account and wash away that entire episode. That had me figuring there was more going on behind the scenes. Basically Treasure Net was treated as a TOOL along with the rest of us. Seems like the legal stakes were much higher than just offending members.

I Consider Myself a Friend of the Paradas !
the Same way I Consder Myself Your Fiend and the Others here.

Parada is a Member of This forum, When I See a member being accused
of lying about a treasure they are Presently Working on. I Get Involved.

All My Life I Have Championed the Underdog so to Speak

add to That the Inconstencies with the FBI even Showing up in Force
& The obvious Amount of Money Spent By All sides Makes The Paradas the 'underdog' imo
Thanks Jeff, that helps a lot. I think a major difference between Dents Run and other legends is that the other stuff is debated more in the abstract whereas Dents Run has active people attached to it. I personally believe that the whole legend is a 1960s invention and that neither the Paradas nor the FBI found anything. However, the behavior of the FBI throughout the process has been abysmal so I am firmly rooting for the Paradas in their effort to get them to cough up all the details. I am a strong believer in government transparency.

My partner at the time was John Stevenson. He lived up in the mountains near there. He was know in Pennsylvania and a upright guy. Jack was a ranch caretaker at the time in the area. John visited Jack at the ranch. During the visit Jack walked into the bedroom and came out with one of the bars and handed it to him. He had been shaving off gold and selling it at a jewelry store in St Mary's. John and I teamed up and the hunt started.

If you read the account of the incident it was written that the bars were painted with tar to disguise them and hidden in the wagon bottoms. Only the Lt. Knew that they were transporting. Later near St Mary's the Lt told them. That is when the trouble started.

Two gold bars were found in this map area by Jack Schall.
The story I've heard is that Schall knew a guy who claimed to have found the bars, and then the guy pulled one out from under his bed and showed it to Schall.

Funny thing about treasure hunting. You start looking at a project and make the right friends you hear things. Like a snow ball rolling down hill. You would be surprised the things I hear. There will always be those that know and those who never will. If your smart listen to those who know. It works for me. At times I could have 20 things going. I will say this. I don't bullshit. I get interested in a incident I look for facts that prove or disprove the incident. If I mention something about this incident pay attention. I'm in Arizona and working on other things. I spent a lot of time and effort on the gold bar incident. If you get into this and find something from info I provided you can send me a taste. Or not I guess it depends on the person. Good luck.

Carl that was Jacks cover. A friend has them. He lived in fear the government would find out and take them. My friend held one in his hand from under Jacks bed. I trust my friend. We busted our butts following up. As I said there is a lot more to this story. As a side issue the Lt. Is buried up there. Jack thought the extra bars were buried with him. He wanted me to help dig up the grave. I refused. I do know where it is. John and I found it using information from Jack. As I said there are those that know and those who never will. You can believe me or not I don't care. There are those in Arizona that pay attention to what I say for a reason. I'm always willing to help a friend keep on track. I'm not one to take things to my grave.

Ok thanks for clearing that up as it's evident now that you are believing the word of your partner and/or Jack but really no evidence or facts of your own to prove the existence of the alleged gold bars.

You should have prefaced your comments with " I have been told".

Carl is correct. It is widely known and there are personal stories and even proof of a news article interviewing Schall where he tells of an old man having found two bars of gold, shaving it off and selling bits to a jeweler in St. Marys. Fact is... there is no evidence to date that Schall ever publicly claimed to have found gold bars.

Just as there is no fact or evidence in your prior claims that Schall had a copy of a LT. Castleton's diary. The "diary" was nothing more than the story itself pulled from a 1981 local narrative, history book. This was proven from the images you once presented and claimed were the original story.

Playing loose with anecdotal information is what kills these threads.

If Jack is dead, what became of the gold bars?
Something interesting in the existing news article Schall is quoted as saying of the alleged finder... “he has promised he will leave the gold to Schall when he dies”.

If you believe there is truth in the story told by Schall, then you are accepting his word that the alleged old man really existed and that he allegedly found two bars of gold. One can assume the old man could have passed and gifted the alleged gold bars to Schall. The fact is, even if two gold bars really existed, there is no proof of how they were acquired by the old man and/or where they could have originated.

Of course, none of this has been proved and if SGTFDA is being truthful in his assertions that Jack was lying about the old man and using the story as “cover, then you have been led in a complete circle of misleading information. By Sarge’s confession of Jack lying, there is just no credibility then to Jack’s story or any of these tales. Just good storytelling.

Your calling some good men liars and storytelling .you have no proof at all these folks are lying..I have known the facts for decades and know these folks are not liars..you folks are so full of yourselves and pompous lipflappers . NOBODY ever mentions the Pinkerton detectives oy the army intelligence searching the forest and questioning townfolk for decades or the guy that thinks there should be written orders of the gold bars in transit...weeks after 51,000 Americans were killed in a civil war . I would tell you exactly what I know but that would trigger YOU UMM. UMMS
and turd polishers would rather be tuff guys. Dennis Prada has relentlessly tried to do the. the right way and ten years of being dismissed by the state sent him to the FBI with all the proof and testing ..they jumped on it sent thier own teams to test and they knew it was there.. I thought I would add what I know as truth but you guys don't deserve the truth ...

the simple fact that they lied, and dug through the night, is very good evidence of wrong doing.
If they lied about that, who knows what was found?

Again, this is not a fact according to Schall himself when interviewed or ever publicly stated. I will stand corrected when someone provides such proof. SGTFDA posted a misleading statement as if it were established fact.

I never called Schall a liar. SGTFDA asserted Schall was using the story of the old man finding the bars as a "cover up" essentially, he is saying Schall was allegedly lying to others about the find. The man is gone and no longer here to set the record straight, but his own words are immortalized in a news article, and his words directly refute what Sarge is saying.

Nor did I ever say Sarge was a liar. It's Schall's very own words in the news article which refute what SGTFDA is saying. Not mine. So, who or what is credible here and verifiable with fact and evidence?
