Finally, me and my son got out today to an old field that we've hit before pretty much looking for civil war stuff. Day started off good with 4 early flat buttons and a few odds and ends, but it was like digging in concrete. After a while I decided we should check another part of the field we've never checked before and I got a fired musket ball and a fired 3 ringer. Well then I must of gotten into the farmers target practice area and gave up on that field. But while I was walking out I got a big 91 on the deus, after finally breaking through the hard ground I pop the plug and all I see is big shiny silver. My first 1700s coin and it's a big 1799 2 reale 20191012_105249.webp20191012_105256.webp20191012_121617.webp20191012_121641.webp

That is one of my goals, to break into the 1700s with a US coin, preferably silver. I’ve only found a Chinese 1700s.

Congrats on the big Spanish silver, very well done sir!

That coin is a serious beauty and an incredible find! I was watching the Ken Burns Civil war series and last night they covered Spotsylvania. I think you are in the right place for some civil war stuff.

That is a tremendous coin! Congrats

Thanks, yep we've got a lot of civil war history around here, that's usually the type of hunting we do but its always a nice surprise to get a good coin

That's a great way to make it back to the 18th century. Congrats! :hello2:
